The Grants and Projects Sub-series contains twenty-two rolls of microfilm dating from 1977 to 1982, along with twelve cubic feet of records dating from 1984 to 1998.  The records document Senator Glenn's work in assisting various state and local agencies in Ohio in their efforts to obtain federal grants.  Other records pertain to Glenn's endeavors to garner the appropriations of federal funding for a variety of projects within the state.  Included are records pertaining to the funding of such public works projects as airports, highways, railroads, and flood control.  Other files document environmental projects in Ohio, such as sewers, waste treatment plants, and the cleanup of toxic and hazardous waste sites.  Also included are records on federal grants awarded for science and technology research projects and a variety of health, housing, education, and recreation related programs.

The microfilmed records contain correspondence, reports, newspaper clippings, and background materials on an extensive number of grant applications and public works projects.  Sorted into four sets of records each arranged alphabetically by county, the microfilm contains materials for the combined years of 1977 through 1979 and separately for 1980, 1981, and 1982.  The microfilm also contains separate files of grant award notifications alphabetically arranged by county for the years 1977-1979, 1980, and 1981.  At the end of each set of records is summary information on the federal funding received per year by each county within the State of Ohio.  The information includes listings of the funding received by each county in Ohio from individual federal departments and agencies.  Paper indexes to the microfilm are available for the years 1981 and 1982.

The paper records are sorted into the three categories of county files, department files, and Cleveland office files.  These records document federal grants and funding appropriations for projects within the State of Ohio from 1984 through 1998.  The eight cubic feet of county files are divided into two sets, the first dated 1984 to 1996 and the other dated 1997 to 1998.  Each set is alphabetically arranged by county and contains records on specific projects within the county and general files for miscellaneous grants and projects.  Examples of significant projects documented within the county files include a hazardous waste incinerator built during the early 1990s by Waste Technologies Industries in Columbiana County, the toxic waste cleanup during 1990 and 1991 at the Shieldalloy Company in Guernsey County, various operations and environmental issues during the 1980s and 1990s at the Piketon Gas Centrifuge Enrichment Plant in Pike County, and the establishment during the late 1980s of the Envirosafe Hazardous Waste Site in Lucas County.

The two cubic feet of department files contain correspondence, reports, and background materials pertaining to the applications by various Ohio entities for federal grants during 1997 and 1998.  Also included are notification documents for federal grants awarded to local governments, universities, and other organizations within Ohio.  The records are filed in alphabetical order by federal department or agency.  Other files contain extensive documentation on the conferences and seminars Senator Glenn held in Ohio during the 1980s for businesses interested in procuring government contracts.  Most of these events focused specifically on obtaining contracts with the Department of Defense.

The two cubic feet of Cleveland office files date from 1988 to 1996.  Compiled by Caroline Arnold, Senator Glenn's field representative in his Cleveland office, the records document numerous projects within the northeastern region of Ohio.
