The Investigations Series consists of twenty-six cubic feet
of records, dating from 1985 to 1992, pertaining to the Senate Ethics
Committee's 1990 to 1991 investigation of the Lincoln Savings and Loan failure.
Senator Glenn was one of five U.S. Senators, dubbed the "Keating Five" by the
media, investigated by the Ethics Committee for ties to Charles Keating, the
owner of the failed savings and loan company. The series is divided into the
two sub-series of Defense Files and Hearings Files. The Defense sub-series
consists of fourteen cubic feet of records compiled by Senator Glenn, by various
members of his Senate staff, and by the law firm hired by Glenn to defend him
against the allegations. Records within the Hearings sub-series consist
primarily of transcripts of hearing testimonies, along with copies of documents
used as exhibits in the hearings.
Researchers should note that the Investigations Series
is closed to public research until January 1, 2017.
