The Compact Discs Series contains twenty-eight CDs or DVDs dating from 1997 to 2008.  Five of the discs contain songs or music written and dedicated to John Glenn in response to his 1998 return to space as a crewmember aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery Mission STS-95.  Another disc contains a Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentation on the building of a full-sized replica of the Friendship 7 spacecraft by the apprentice program of the Bosch Corporation in Charleston, South Carolina.  Upon completion, the company installed the replica on the U.S.S. Yorktown at the Patriots Point Maritime Museum in Charleston on February 20, 1997, the thirty-fifth anniversary of Glenn's space flight.  Other discs pertain to Glenn's involvement in programs celebrating the 100th anniversary of manned flight in 2003 and the 50th anniversary of NASA in 2008.  Also included are DVDs from various events honoring John Glenn, events where he presented a speech, and copies of two television programs aired in 2006 featuring John Glenn.
