Course Reserves at the Fine Arts Library
Welcome and thank you for choosing the Fine Arts Library for your course reserve needs!
TYPES OF RESERVES
We have 2 kinds of reserve materials at the Fine Arts Library.
Open Reserves – Most materials you reserve for your students will be put on open reserve. This shelving area allows students to pull books and use them in the library at their leisure. Most of these items are also check out overnight, available 2 hours before we close and due back the first hour we are open the following day.
Closed Reserves – Closed reserves are shelved behind the desk and must be checked out with a picture ID to be used within the library. They are not allowed to leave the library. Items put on closed reserve for your classes would include personal copies of items we do not own, media (cds, dvds, videos), and items you want on your list that are permanently housed in the closed reserve area.
Please note we only put monograph items on reserve. If you have journal articles or a book chapter you would like put on reserve, please contact the E-Reserves office. They are able to scan materials and make them available for your students to use online. While we welcome requests for items from other OSU libraries, books from other OhioLINK libraries CANNOT be placed on course reserve. If you require a book for your class reading list which OSU does not own, please contact either Amanda at gluibizzi.2@osu.edu or Gretchen at donelson.9@osu.edu so that we can order a copy. The item may take some time to acquire so plan accordingly.
SUBMITTING YOUR RESERVE LIST
There are 3 ways you can submit items for course reserves at FIN.
1) Email Gretchen your lists at donelson.9@osu.edu. Please provide the author, title and year of publication if you have it available.
2) Fill out the OSU Libraries reserve request form: http://library.osu.edu/staff/electronic-reserves/course-materials-request.php
3) If you are in the library looking at materials you may choose just to leave them with us for processing. If Gretchen is here at the time she would be glad to accept them from you, and if she is out, just leave them with the desk attendant with a note of the instructor and course department/number and we will get those taken care of for you.
Course reserves are taken off each term. If a course will be repeating the following term and materials will be kept the same, a new list must still be submitted before the end of the first term.
We request reserve lists be turned in one week before the start of a term. There is no ‘official deadline’ and materials can be added as the term goes on, but realize that books that are checked out by patrons take up to 3 weeks to be returned back to us from the time of a recall.
