An update to Sierra–Release 1.2.1– is scheduled for July 23. The update is expected to add some new features and resolve several known issues. The issues marked with a star have been reported locally and should be especially appreciated by our Sierra users.

Acquisitions

•             Cannot open or expand order record entries in Compact Browse

Description: When searching in an order record phrase index, the compact browse does not allow the entries to be Open or expanded.

•             Cannot set a review file in Import Invoices

Description: When using the Import tab in Import Invoices, users cannot set a review file before loading. When clicking “none” to set the review file, the client is supposed to present a list of review files to choose from.

•             Incorrect multi-fund flags appear in invoices, preventing orders from being paid

Description: Occasionally, payments on different orders result in the one order record getting a combined payment.

•             The Import Invoices and Data Exchange functions freeze the client.

Description: The Import Invoices and Data Exchange functions in Sierra freeze the client.

•             Foreign currency conversions taking an unusually long time to finish

Description: Foreign currency conversions take over an hour to complete.

•             In the Acquisitions function, vendor codes show incorrectly as vendor names.

Description: In the Vendor Hierarchies function, some vendor codes display as vendor names.

•             The Always Prompt for Template setting generates an error in the Receive function.

Description: Receive function users cannot select a record template to create their new item with while receiving an order.

•             The Acquisitions function is missing activity. star

Description: When looking at the fund activity for some funds, Sierra does not display the activity. The fund activity is also omitted from Fund Activity Reports.

•             The Receive tab is missing an “Always prompt for template” option in Settings.

Description: In the Settings menu of the Sierra Desktop Application, the Receive tab does not offer an “Always prompt for template” option.

•             The Pay an Invoice option in the Acquisitions function is missing a “Show amount in local currency” button. star

Description: The system does not offer a local currency option when users access the Pay an Invoice function and choose the “Use Currency” box.

•             Related orders do not show in resource records.

Description: When related orders are created and linked they do not show on the resource record. Related resources do show in the order record.

Cataloging

•             When performing a Global Update with the “Use displayed fields” checkbox checked, some changes are not detected.

Description: Performing a Global Update with the “Use displayed fields” option does not perform changes on all MARC fields.

•             LC call number searches including a period character do not work.

Description: In SDA, searches for call numbers that include a period fail. The system displays a “your entry would be here message.”

•             When users toggle to CAT DATE in Global Update, Sierra does not display the CAT DATE field.

Description: Sierra does not display the CAT DATE fixed-length field in Global Update.

•             LC call number searches produce unexpected results.

Description: LC Call Number searches (c index) produce different results depending on how users enter the call number for the search.

•             Heading entry counts do not match

Description: Counts for heading entries retrieved in a phrase index search do not match the number of heading entries that display in the index browse table.

•             A local Z39.50 search crashes the Sierra client.

Description: When performing a Z39.50 local Catalog search followed by a Remote search, the Sierra client crashes.

•             Phrase search indexes show incorrect counts in Sierra facets.

Description: Sierra facet counts do not reflect the true number of records in results.

•             Search strings are not normalized in Verify Headings

Description: Search strings for a Chinese author name are not normalizing in Verify Headings.

•             Catalog Database Status not reporting the correct entries for “heading changes”

Description: The system does not display correct entries for “heading changes” in Catalog Database Status.

•             When verifying headings for 490 and 830 fields, the system fails to find entries containing subfield v

Description: The Verify Headings function does not find entries containing subfield v for 490 and 830 fields.

•             The Z39.50 server does not export the coverage database 856 field

Description: Users viewing records via remote Z39.50 searches both in Sierra and in WebPAC do not see the 856 field. The URL is not being exported to the record as part of a Z39.50 search.

•             The Link Maintenance queue is getting corrupted

Description: If site has Overnight Daily Link Maintenance program set up, bibliographic records are written to this file for processing and if the file becomes corrupted, the overnight job does not run.

•             Data Exchange gives a “bibtemp = 11” error when loading records

Description: When users load patron records in Data Exchange, the program generates a “Bibtemp result =11” error message and the load is stopped.

•             The Scope Authority Records function incorrectly loads records causing incorrect headings reports.

Description: Running the Scope Authority Records process incorrectly loading records and causing the AACP process to hang while also generating incorrect headings reports.

•             An author search in the compact browse does not result in correctly-sorted entries

Description: When performing an author search in the Compact Browse, Sierra does not sort entries in alphabetical order by title. Entries found by the same author should sort alphabetically by title.

•             The right-click mouse function to access the Global Update “change” command does not work

Description: When users attempt a “change” command in Global Update, Sierra displays an unintelligible field and fails to find the change.

•             The system does not save item records if the MARC 090 field is missing certain subfields

Description: When users create or edit a single item record, Sierra does not save the record if the 090 field lacks at least one subfield h, k or m.

•             The Verify Headings brief bibliographic information box in the browse is not selectable

Description: Users cannot select the brief bibliographic information box when using the Verify Headings Browse. This problem exists in both compact and expanded browse displays.

Circulation

•             Users can save SDA settings without permission 176

Description: The Sierra Desktop Application allows users to save settings without having permission 176 applied to the user login.

•             Statistics reports on patron activity not completing

Description: Without intervention from support, statistics reports on patron activity were not completing.

•             Rapid Update not allowing users to update YTDCIRC by range

Description: When users tried to update YTDCIRC by range in Rapid Update, the system did not update items and returned the following message: “Thank you for doing 0 updates.”

•             When adding an item to course reserves, the location entered in Course Reserves Settings window not retained

Description: When users added items to course reserves, the system did not retain the location entered in the Course Reserves Settings window.

•             “Select Receipt Printer” prompt appears earlier than expected in transactions, and if “(none)” is selected, staff must select OK several times

Description: When users attempt to process fines transactions without printing a fines payment receipt, the system prompts “Select Receipt Printer” before the user is prompted to print fines. Though “(none)” is highlighted as the default in the “Select Receipt Printer” prompt, staff are forced to click “OK” several times before the system continues with the transaction.

•             The View Circulation Overrides must be checked daily or the Circulation Overrides file is truncated

Description: Libraries experienced large data gaps in their Circulation Overrides files due to truncation from the file size.

•             Sierra does not cancel all holds when performing multiple hold cancellations

Description: When accessing a bibliographic record in Sierra and cancelling multiple holds from the bibliographic hold queue, the system cancels all but one hold from the group selected. Staff then have to select the outstanding hold again and cancel it.

•             Address fields displaying incorrectly in the patron brief display

Description: If a patron has a two-line address with field tag ‘a’ and a three-line address with field tag ‘h’, the system inserts the second line of the ‘h’ address in the middle of the ‘a’ address in the brief patron record display.

•             When data is entered in Fixed Length Codes that exceeds the system maximum, fixed-length codes and fixed-length fields do not match or the SDA shuts down

Description: When data entered in the Fixed Length Codes function exceeds the system maximum of 3000 bytes, the fixed-length codes and fixed-length fields fall out-of-sync. This can cause the Sierra Desktop Application to shut down.

Create Lists

•             Export of records takes extremely long timestar

Description: Description: When exporting a file in Create Lists, the system takes significantly longer than in Millennium.

•             When retrieving certain fixed-length fields containing less than five characters, Create Lists fails to retrieve resultsstar

Description: When the Create Lists Resource Consortium field (fixed-length field 262) contains than 5 characters, Create Lists fails to retrieve records. Codes with five characters retrieve the expected records.

•             An item record search of bib record for item fixed-length field 88 = [value] does not retrieve expected results

Description: When searching in Create Lists for bibliographic records containing attached items with a given status (fixed-length field 88), the search does not work in Sierra but works in Millennium.

•             A search in Create Lists for MARC Tag subfield = and != [blank] returns wrong resultsstar

Description: A Create Lists search using Bib MARC Tag 245 | [subfield tag] equal to “[blank]” returns results that do not have a MARC Tag 245 field.

•             Bibliographic Call number searches in Create Lists fail if the Store Record Type is item, order, or checkinstar

Description: If the Store Record Type is item, order or checkin and the search contains Bibliographic Call# followed by >, <, >=, N, O, ^, =, !=, <=, W or $, Sierra displays a “Error occurred processing query” message. If the Store Record Type is Bib, a query with Item Call Numbers also fails.

•             Checkin and Card record Box Information never appears in the listed information in Create Lists

Description: When listing a set of results in Create Lists, the system does not include Box Information (963|1) (subfield 1) from the Checkin Card in the listed results.

•             Searches for “CKIN INFO Not Exists” using Create Lists fails to return expected results

Description: Create Lists returns results for records with the CKIN INFO field when the search term specifies to not search for that field.

•             Sorting patrons by the CHK OUT field (fixed-length field 50) fails in Create Lists when there are other sorting criteria included.

Description: Sorting a review file of patrons by number of current checkouts does not sort by number of checkouts.

•             Regular expressions using carets not working

Description: Specific regular expression (using caret) in Create Lists no longer working.

•             Searches of resource records for fixed-length field 206 “Access Provider” = [code with less than 5 characters] does not retrieve results

Description: Create Lists cannot find 3- and 4- character “Access Provider” (fixed field 206) codes in e (resource) records, using the “equal to” operator.

•             Searches for the MARCTYPE bibliographic fixed-length field using any logical operators fails and displays an error message.

Description: Create Lists bib record search of MARCTYPE (fixed-length field 107) using any logical operator always fails with “Error occurred processing query” message.

•             Create Lists does not export 4-tagged “Waitlist” variable-length fields from section records

Description: Create Lists does not export 4-tagged Waitlist variable length fields from section records. The downloaded file shows a null value (“”) in the data output.

•             Create Lists cannot search section records by a ‘4’-tagged field

Description: In Create Lists, the search “SECTION Waitlist exist” fails to retrieve existing records with waitlist fields.

•             Sorting by call number fails in Create Lists

Description: Sorting with the “Look Up Call Numbers” setting checked as “on” in Create Lists cannot sort a review file by call number. The system changes the file status to “sorting” for a period of a few minutes, and then back to “complete.” The order of the records within the review file is not be sorted by call number after the process completes.

Desktop

•             Column sorting not retained in the Summary tab

Description: When users sort a column in the Summary tab, then open a record and return to the Summary tab, the system does not retain the column sort.

•             Unable to update user settings

Description: When an administrator attempts to change any elements from the Settings tab, in the SDA or the Admin App, the system generates a “Stale link” error.

•             Remote Search missing in the Sierra Desktop Application

Description: Users with permission 199 do not have access to the expected Remote Search feature in the Sierra Desktop Application.

Electronic Resource Mgmt

•             The ERM – SUSHI login generates an error

Description: When users log in to edit the ERM autostat file, the system returns a “invalid acctunit (need 1-0)” error and does not allow the login and prevents downloading of useage statistics.

Serials

•             Users cannot create holding records or checkin cards in the Serials function

Description: When a user tries to add new holdings records and checkin cards, the system generates “Record was not saved…” and “Your record [record name] could not be created.” error messages.

•             Some checkin records are slow to open

Description: When opening the Record tab of some checkin records, it can take from 30 to 40 seconds for the record to actually open.

WebPAC

•             WebPAC does not retrieve authority records correctly

Description: After scoping an authority record range in Sierra, scoped-search retrievals in WebPAC do not retrieve authority records correctly per expected scope settings.

•             Attached items do not display in correct order

Description: Items attached to a bibliographic display in the correct order in Sierra and Encore but not in WebPAC.

•             Unable to access images in Ancestry Library database with Web Access Management

Description: Users cannot access images with Web Access Management links in Ancestry Library database.

•             Subject phrase search retrieves and displays no results

Description: A subject phase index search retrieves and displays “0” results in the index browse.

•             Heading entry counts do not match

Description: Counts for heading entries retrieved in a phrase index search do not match the number of heading entries that display in the index browse table.

•             Proxy error when accessing patron account

Description: When logging into their accounts some patrons receive the following error: “Proxy Error.”

•             Indexed diacritic/character combinations cannot be searched by keywordstar

Description: Indexed diacritic/character combinations cannot be searched by keyword in the WebPAC after upgrading to Sierra 1.2.
