Information Gathering

Publishing and Managing Finding Aids
Our collection data that is being entered into Archivist Toolkit will need to be published for patrons use.
This project would explore requirements and lightweight methods for publishing EAD in a findable and useable manner.

Complex Objects
There are several image collections that are complex objects, that is they have multiple images around the same described object, e.g. the front and back pictures of a manuscript leaf. We will be developing the use cases for this functionality and looking at the development being done by the community.

Tutorials
Work with the Teaching & Learning department to choose a new platform and migrate content from Net.Tutor.

Archival Description Management System Data Migration Assistance
This project encompasses all of the data that needs to be migrated from various sources, including ArchivesSpace, OhioLINK EAD Repository, vendor provided EAD, Sierra data, certain Past Perfect data and other various bespoke data sets. Image Collections Data Entry Changes
Several back-end changes to improve efficiency and accuracy have been identified for implementation, including some complex metadata objects, predictive text fields, and exposure of existing and controlled vocabularies. These changes should benefit current Image Collections users as well as future residents.

Separating the changes that we have made from Sufia and Hydra will be easier to maintain and share with colleagues once we package them as

Software Upgrades

Upgrade Online Journal System to latest stable version
The current version is increasingly out of date, and there are substantial improvements to newer versions of the software, including more sophisticated handling of DOIs and access to the Public Knowledge Project’s preservation network.

DSpace Upgrade
This work was identified as a good candidate for hiring a vendor to perform. Most of the work for this project will be coordination with the vendor and our partners, DCS.

Sierra Upgrade to Service Pack 2
This service pack is tentatively scheduled for installation over winter break. Details, including testing schedules, coordination with the vendor and our users will be forthcoming.

Enhancements

Illiad Interface EnhancementsModify existing ILLiad web interface to provide better patron usability, especially with regards to mobile use, i.e. responsive design. Work on preliminary designs has been underway, but implementation has been delayed by staffing issues.

Sierra Reporting Dashboard
Several reports have been created for the Sierra Reporting Dashboard, but currently it doesn’t have a robust log-in system. We’d like to further develop that so that we can let other folks partake in the reporting goodness.
