Wha’cha gonna do? July 4-6

July 3rd, 2008

Whoo-hoo!  Oh yeah!  4th of July!

Party like it’s 1999!…. well, more like 1989, by going to see Rick Springfield and Taylor Dane in their free concert at Dublin Coffman High School’s football stadium on Friday.  Dublin officials have dubbed this event “Red, White and Rewind.”  Clever!  Dane starts her show at 6:15, Springfield at 8:15, with fireworks at 9:50.  Gates open at 4:30.  (FYI - Rick Springfield is supposed to return to General Hospital  in his dual roles of Dr. Noah Drake and rock star Eli Love within the next couple weeks.  Awesome!)

Have you ever been to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Pickerington?  I haven’t, but this exhibit is sure to get me there.  MotoStars:  Celebrities and Motorcyles will be on through December 2009.  It’s been my experience that when you think ‘Oh, that exhibit is going to be there forever, I can wait to go,” you wait and wait and then it’s over.  You’ve missed it.  So jump on this one before a year-and-a-half fly by. $10 for adults, cheaper for kids.

When I was a little kid my friend MaryBeth and I got dropped off at the movie theater to see Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.  Just ending it’s run at that time was Jaws which I knew would be WAY to scary and have avoided seeing it through the years.   I saw it for the first time on tv about a month ago.  And you know what?  It WAS too scary!  But, if you’re brave you can catch it Friday and Saturday at midnight at the Gateway Theater.  I can’t even imagine having to see that gross shark on a big screen.  But I have to say, it was a pretty good movie.  ha

The 8 paintings making up the Lima Company Memorial will be on diplay in the Statehouse through November 11, but in the rotunda only through this weekend before it’s moved to the south hallway behind Representatives Hall.  I’m going this weekend to give a spiritual shout-out to distant cousin Lance Corporal Edward A. “Augie” Schroeder II who is pictured on one of the Memorial panels.

Have a good one!  Gretchen
