Wha’cha gonna do? June 20-22

June 20th, 2008

Let’s see what’s in store for the first official weekend of summer….

It’s time for the 16th Annual Worthington Arts Festival.  Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 11-5.  Supposedly voted “Best Arts and Crafts Show in Ohio” I shall report on my purchases next week.

I’ve never seen Back to the Future all the way through.  But I can make up for that sad deficit this Saturday and Sunday at either 2pm or 7:30pm at the Ohio Theater.  I know it will be great because it features the Delorean, the coolest car ever made!Organ concerts begin a half hour prior to the start of the movie.  $3.50 (a steal) but it’s cheaper (unbelievably!) when you buy a strip of 10 tickets for $21.50.  The strip tickets can be used in any combination for any of the CAPA Summer Movie Series films.

Speaking of movies have you been to the Landmark movie theater at Gateway since the Drexel left?  Well, a good time to try it out might be the midnight showings of the ’70’s classic, The Warriors, Friday and Saturday night.  Come cheer as a gang tries to make it through their rival’s ’hoods back to their home turf of Coney Island.   I expected nothing from it when Entertainment Weekly put it on their list of controversial movies, but I thought it was great.

Gas was $4.09 on my way in this morning, but for those whose day trips can’t be disuaded by rising gas prices, a trip to the Ohio Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster (The Reese Peters House, 145 E. Main) is in order.  The current exhibit features one of my favorite artists.  The Artist’s Hand:  Dard Hunter and the American Arts and Crafts Movement runs through August 31, Tuesday-Sunday 1-4pm.

Well, after work you need to run out get your snacks because Friday night is The Daytime Emmy Awards (ABC, 8-10pm).  If General Hospital’s Tony Geary doesn’t win best actor I will be shocked.  He’s awesome!  My sister bought me a Tony Geary mousepad for my birthday once.

Have a good one!  Gretchen
