Hidden Animals in Art: Bunny Edition
June 9th, 2008
Take a look at the bunnies in the road in Andrea Mantegna’s Agony in the Garden. Completely oblivious to the larger drama that surrounds them, as is a bunny’s wont, these two are actually talking to one another. One makes an orator’s gesture to the other with a raised paw, signaling speech, which reminds me of another bunny we’ve featured on the Fine Arts blog: Jeff Koons’ Rabbit sculpture. Evidently bunnies have a lot to get off their chests.
