Wha’cha gonna do? May 23-25
May 23rd, 2008
You are going to make tissue paper flowers all weekend for the 5 centerpieces I’m making for my cousin’s graduation party. What COULD you be doing if you weren’t already busy helping me with crafts?….
The Asian Festival runs 10am-9pm Saturday and 11am-7pm Sunday at Franklin Park. Visit the website for info on the food, entertainment and shopping that will be available. www.asian-festival.org And while you are in the neighborhood…..
Many plants don’t care for warm weather - however many do. Central Ohio Cactus and Succulent Society Show and Sale is the perfect place to pick up some greenery that will withstand the upcoming summer heat. 10am-5pm at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Admission to the conservatory is $7.50 for adults, but the plant and flower shows take place mostly in the lower level conference rooms where admission isn’t neccessary.
Former FIN-student-employee and current OSU B-Boy Club member Dean Parham invites everyone to Smoked in Ohio 2. The annual breakdance battle takes place Friday from 6pm-1am and Saturday 4pm-12am at RPAC. Admission is, as Dean puts it, “totally free!” Dancers have come from all over the country, many by invitation, and will be competing for big money.
Brush up on your Klingon! The big science fiction/fantasy convention Marcon 43 is this weekend at the Hyatt Regency (350 N. High). $30/day or $50 for the weekend.
My friend Cathy LOVES Formula One racing and if she lived in Ohio I’m sure she would be going to watch the Monaco Grand Prix (above, left) live at Studio 35 Sunday morning at….7am!!!! Oh man, that is too early for me. I will be sleeping in and watching the Indianpolis 500 on my good ol’ tv which starts at 1:11pm. In a reunion of sorts, Helio Castroneves will be driving in the race after his Dancing-with-the-Stars partner Julianne Hough sings the national anthem. Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.
Have a good one! Gretchen
