Wha’cha gonna do? March 14-16
March 14th, 2008
It’s the weekend and I’ve got the cures for your cabin fever!
Hip Hop Expo ‘08 will be at the Convention Center Saturday from 3-11pm. I’m always surprised this isn’t a bigger deal, I mean, it’s the 14th year they’ve held it. I love watching double-dutch jump-roping which will be demonstrated at 4pm. They should have a special series of workshops for dorky white women 40 and over - I would so be there!
The Columbus International Auto Show wraps up this weekend. Apparently a NASCAR guy I’ve never heard of, Todd Bodine (above), is going to be there 1-4pm on Saturday. Adults, $8, kids 12 and under are free. (Because there’s nothing a little kid loves more than…an auto show.)
Saturday The Metropolitan Opera will performing Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes and you can watch it live on the big screen at Marcus Cinema in Worthington north of I-270. It starts at 1:30pm and is 3 hours 45 minutes long with 2 intermissions…Yikes! Stars tenor Anthony Dean Griffey (above, as Grimes).

10-5pm on Saturday stop by CCAD’s Canzani Center and see sculptures made with non-perishables! Canstruction 2008 uses 30,000 pounds of canned and boxed food. All food used will be donated to Operation Feed when the exhibit is dismantled on Sunday. I can’t believe I missed the call-for-entries..I would be great at that! Definitely next year. (The picture above is from an event in another city.)
A lot of events are happening this weekend that got snowed-out last weekend. One of them is the Worthington Craft Guild’s Spring Calico Craft Show Sunday from 11am-5pm. It’s held at Worthington Mall, but apparently now they like to call it Worthington Square. Either way, it’s just inside of I-270 on High St.
Have a good one! Gretchen
