Wha’cha gonna do? November 9-11
November 8th, 2007
I should say, wha’cha gonna do other than run out a buy a new sweater vest? (See Amanda’s latest posting below for inspiration.)
Well, Friday night German Village is having their annual German Village Holiday Open House. Awesome German Village shops will be open from 4-10pm - that INCLUDES the Fudge Haus (pictured above), home of the football-shaped Tressel Truffle.
The Ohio Exposition Center (also known as the Ohio State Fairgrounds) has other stuff going on during the non-fair seasons and this weekend’s events are exceptional. In the Bricker Building from 8-6 Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy Ohio Alpacafest, a celebration of the wooley llamas and those who love them. Maybe Amanda can go buy some raw wool there and spin herself a sweater vest.
What? Not a llama fan? But you love chickens? You’re in luck because the fairgrounds will also be hosting the National Poultry Breeder’s Show from 7am-6pm on Saturday and 7am-12noon Sunday in the Voinovich Livestock/Trade Center. You will be surrounded by professionals qualified to answer the question “What came first, the chicken or the egg?”
The North Market Holiday Food Festival is Saturday with various events all day long. For the schedule see www.northmarket.com. At 2pm architects are judging a Gingerbread House competition! The winner gets a $250 gift certificate, which I can tell you as someone who has attempted making gingerbread houses in the past, probably comes close to the cost of ingredients and time involved.
On Sunday the three area Lair’s Hallmark shops (which includes the store in the Lane Avenue shopping center) will be having their annual 20% off EVERYTHING sale. I cannot believe this. I have never gone, but am going this year just to see if it’s for real.
Have a good one! Gretchen
