Wha’cha gonna do? October 26-28

October 26th, 2007

Woot! Woot!

Weekend time! Oh yeah! Didn’t get registered for the 2007 Festival of Cartoon Art? Don’t worry, here’s a few things to keep your time occupied while all your buddies are partying with editorial cartoonists down at the Renaissance Hotel.

Tonight is OSU’s Evening at the Columbus Museum of Art from 7-11pm. Free admission, people!

I took my cousins to this event once and it was a good time. Tranportation is even being provided round-trip between campus and the museum (the link above lists the 4 campus shuttle stops). The current Monet exhibit should be pretty impressive. If you don’t go you might check out OSU’s Halloween Concert at Weigel Auditorium instead - admission is $6, $5 if you’re an OSU affiliate.

You can stand right where President Lincoln’s casket is in this picture! Creepy! Haunted Statehouse Tours cost $6 for adults, $2 for those under 16. Friday and Saturday at 7:30, 8, 8:30, 9 and 9:30pm. I heard they show you a set of chesspieces made from HUMAN BONES! I think you’ll agree, that alone makes it worth the price of admission.

Okay, you know how the OSU vs. Penn State game on Saturday is at night? Livingston United Methodist Church (200 E. Livingston Ave.) will be projecting the game on the shadow wall!! You know, that side of the church that normally has a giant silhouette of Jesus on it? I could care less about watching the game, but I’m actually going to make a point to drive by because it should be pretty spectacular.

Another bird show! The Radisson Inn, Worthington, will be hosting the Ohio Bird Fair Sunday from 10am-4:30pm, admission $3, kids under 9 free. I’ve pictured the Cherry-headed conure above. They are little commedians. After you attend, or better yet before, rent The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill on dvd.

I know Jay Leno is always saying this is one of his pet peeves, but I love it - animals in costumes!!! Capital Area Humane Society is sponsoring their annual Halloween Pet Parade out at Easton on Sunday from 1-3pm. There’s a fee to particpate, but it’s free to watch.

Have a good one! Gretchen
