Reserve Books: Replacements and Renewals
November 26th, 2007
If a book that’s needed for Reserve is missing or not owned by the library, from now on John Dewees is going to forward that request to me for rush ordering. Remember that if you need something immediately, you also have the option of placing a personal copy on Reserve.
The current procedure for print Reserves at the end of the quarter is to break down the collection and return it to the circulating stacks unless it is needed for the next quarter. This is done in order to keep the physical collection of manageable size. John and Lila Andersen, however, are working on ways of easing the renewal process for Reserve books so that faculty do not need to fully re-enter personal information every time they want to submit a reserves request. They also are working on an archival option so faculty can indicate that would like to keep a course reserve inactive but saved for future use. Stay tuned for updates on this topic.
