About the Collection

The African Studies collection is a multidisciplinary, multilingual and international collection of research resources in print, electronic and microform formats. It also includes a collection of audiovisual materials for classroom use. The primary focus is on the countries, peoples and cultures of Africa south of the Sahara - North Africa is part of the Middle East Studies and French/Francophone collections.

With materials in English, French, Portuguese and selected African languages, the collection offers extensive coverage of the humanities and social sciences, especially in literature, history, linguistics, religion, political science, art and anthropology. It also includes selected subject areas such as religion, music, theatre and drama that link Africa and its diaspora in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
