University Libraries
The Architecture Library is a two-story glass box, book-lined room which accommodates 50,000 volumes and two hundred journal subscriptions in support of the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture and city and regional planning. There is seating for 40 at tables and a classic chair collection—each designed by a famous architect or designer-- which provides lounge chairs for an additional 30 people. With a view to the roof garden, the library also provides a reflective space away from the work environment of the design studios. In 2005 the library, designed by Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam with associate architects, Wandel and Schnell, won the prestigious AIA/ALA Library Building Award.
